Presumably Barclays is no? They were very quick to open the account for me.

(I'm 99.999% sure of the answer to the above, but have to ask :o)

Glad you got it sorted. X
  • Pushing it I think...Coop takes a few days to get cards out & fee increases on the 6th April..unless you can take a chance & manage without an account for a few days?

I know, but you know me, i never ignore the possibilaty the impossible may happen;):D

Ah yes! It's Phil who is the more recent fan of Barclays between the 2 of you. Couldn't remember yesterday.

  • :D Got my welcome pack today, and there is an intresting subnote on the back of the letter, which explains a lot-
As there are overdraft restrictions on the account this card will only be accepted at retailers who can complete a real time check for funds

Some internet stores and remote or unmanned terminals (such as petrol pay-at pump and parking meters) cannot support this card because their systems are not able to immediatly check if funds are available in your account

Not seen anyone mention this, is it new, or have i just missed it?, but explains why it will never be as good as a debit card from a full account, and makes perfect sense why put like that. ;)

    Urgh. Lucky you...........

My Co-Op doesn't need one but Mums (full) Barlcays account does. Basically, they want your password, pass code, pass number, account number, PIN number and number from this device plus your pant size, all in the name of security and protecting 'your' money!

blind, you don't need the security card reader to log on to the account, it is just needed if you want to set up or amend standing orders and so on.

I have used it a couple of times now, and it is really easy.

And interesting that on the back of the letter, explains some of the issues, but not all of them.
