My talktalk contract has expired and I would like the cheapest tele calls/wireless broadband in my area - DY13. Talk talk say they can't do anything faster than 2mb? Please make an old lady happy.

Visit the samknows website and do an exchange search.
http://www.samknows.com/broadband/search.php
This will tell you which LLU operators are at your exchange.
They will be your cheapest option.
If you can also log onto your router and post your line statistics. This will tell us your line attenuation and thus the best speed you may be able to get.
Click on link for instructions.

I've just changes to AOL for phone and internet 24 hour free calls plus 8gb internet for £9.99 per month + £11.47 for BT line As i've been with AOL for some years for broadband I got 3 months free. I was with BT for evening and weekend calls and then they are changing to 7pm-7am. I had 2 weeks earlier signed a 6pm-6am contract so challenged them and the contract was cancelled. The main advantage is I now get free calls 24x7 for the same money0

I think you're in Dudley (http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/CMDD) - which means you can get quite a few different LLU providers (these are the cheapest ones).
You can check availability against the broadband & phone packages with prices here http://www.chooseisp.co.uk/.../broadband-phone.asp too.
Plusnet Value might be worth a look if you're a light user, it's £5.99/mth in your area and you get up to 8Mbps and 10GB of usage - plus free evening & weekend calls, or you can pay an extra £5/mth for free anytime calls.
Also O2/Be is good for fast broadband and low cost - but they don't offer a home phone call plan yet - but are expecting to in the next few months if you can wait. It's cheapest if you have an O2 mobile phone though - but PAYG does qualify if you top up at least £10 every 3 months.
It's worth bearing in mind though as you're on TalkTalk you will have to move your phoneline back to BT first before you can switch your broadband. It can cost about £125.
You may be able to move your phoneline straight to Plusnet though if you went with them - and they do new lines cheaper than BT, I think about £75.0 -
I have just switched to platinum package with aol, broadband up to 24mb, free calls to all uk including 08 numbers, and international numbers. No BT line rental either. Savings seem good, any one experienced this?0
