    The OP's Architect is wrong

    Part M mainly relates to new build but can relate to refurbishment/extension work, but the concept is that "reasonable" adjustments are made for disabled people.

    Common sense dictates that you would waste your time designing a new bathroom with access for wheelchairs, if such a wheelchair user can not get around the rest of the house!

    The door can open inwards, unless the rest of the property is a bungalow designed for disabled use
