Your saying, I'd get paid out £10 for a vehicle that is worth £4K due to the lack of a current MOT Cert even with the circumstances outlined above?
Please tell me this guy is talking rubbish please please please!?0 -

I only post my own PERSONAL experiences.
Last year I ran an old banger as a second car, and my post is EXACTLY what happened.
A lorry ran into the back of it writing it off. The assessor sent, asked for an MOT, and said without it the car would be valueless.0 -

Which is what an old bangar without an MOT is worth.
I'd expect to get a couple of hundred £ less than with an MOT.0 -
You've already had all the advice you need on this subject.sho_me_da_money wrote: »
1. I had a full service done in December 2009 - Oil, Filters, Brake Pads, Brake Disks, Spark Plugs, 4 brand new Grade A tyres.
Why on earth would you get the car serviced but not MOTed. I was taught you should get the car serviced at the same time as the MOT, but perhaps I just associate with brighter peoplesho_me_da_money wrote: »Your saying, I'd get paid out £10 for a vehicle that is worth £4K due to the lack of a current MOT Cert even with the circumstances outlined above?
I cannot believe that an 04 micra would be worth anywhere near £4k :eek:I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

Even the top spec model would only be worth £2,900-£3,300 max.
You're not going to get anything like £4k from the insurers.I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

I had not realised the car was not an 'old banger'. Generally you expect people who don't MOT their cars to be running the older variety.
The O.P can work out roughly how much they would get. The garage has said the cost of repairs to exceed its value. Ask the garage what this value is, and this is the maximum you will get.It will almost certainly be a lot less.0 -

They said the the repair costs would be £4200.00
When taking out the policy I told the insurance company the car was worth £3400.00. Since then Ive done about 11,000 miles.
I'd love to get £2500.000 -
In all honesty i dont think they will pay out anyway as you left your handbrake off! its like leaving the keys in the car and someone nicks it! your fault! not an accident really!0
