  • The buyer could be extra upset with me because I said no to him picking it up, its a whole security issue with me too, why should I let strangers in my house?.....I'd rather post, that I do everyday.
If I agreed to let a customer collect an item (e.g. if it were particularly heavy or fragile) I probably wouldn't let invite them in. Though it may appear a bit rude, I'd feel more comfortable completing the transaction on the doorstep. As a customer, I wouldn't ask to collect something like a DVD - I'd think it was a bit cheeky. As a seller, I'd have no problem with the fact that they asked, but I'd politely refuse. I don't want the hassle of having to be in at a certain time when someone may or may not turn up.

I've had people pick things up from home before, even when I was a single mother and the only adult living here.

I've got a porch on the front, so left the item in there, with the door into the house closed. When the buyer came to the door, I just gave them the item and took the money on the doorstep, so no need for them to come in to the house.
Here I go again on my own....

I don't sell much on ebay but if someone is local, i will arrange to meet somewhere else to complete the transaction, that works for me because I'm always in the center anyways. The local library or shopping center is always busy so nothing funny can happen.
