You are obviously very hung up on '1080P' when there really isn't any great benefit.

We have a 1080P 32" LCD Samsung in our bedroom and a 1080i 42" Samsung Plasma in the living room.

The 42" Plasma is far superior quality and a much better picture.

Similar here, my Plasma TV is miles ahead in picture quality, over my smaller screen LCD in my bedroom.

not bad where was that from??

    Custardy -
All I was saying is that it's very rare for someone to own ALL of those things and use them on the same TV!

    aliEnRIK -
Sure recording techniques need to be better but a higher Hz will still make that specific type of viewing better.
But yeah i wasn't sure of the right word to use instead of convert - what is it called when you go from 50 - 60Hz then?
All I can say about 200Hz TV's is the 50 odd inch Panasonic LED i saw in Currys! Looked amazing!

So no one thinks this is the best deal for £330?

PS3,V+ box,360 and my speaker set up
    theres 4
add on my laptop with HDMI out and you are onto 5
ifi got a media tank then i am onto 6

OK so it gets to the point where if you can afford 5 or 6 items which require HDMI connection then you can probably afford to spend more money on a TV and not have to spend hours shopping around for the best price...

However for the majority of 'money saving' people (which is what my 'review' has to cater for) I would say only have one or two things that connect to HDMI if that! You are fortunate enough to have 4 :D

You're not comparing like for like there - what you're saying is that particular Plasma screen is better than that particular Samsung screen, the fact that the two screens are completely different technology adds so much into the comparison that the 1080p/1080i argument is irrelevant. Then add in what the picture source is, and it's a whole new comparision - for example SkyHD apparently only broadcasts at 720p, so that won't help.

I am also hung up on 1080p, even though I know it's irrelevant. I was looking at two TVs side by side in the shop last weekend, one an LG 1080p 27", the other a Samsung 26" HD-Ready 720p TV, both running the Currys rolling demo program. In some areas you could see an improvement in text quality on the 1080p unit, but (I don't know whether it's the way it was configured) the overall picture was much more "washed out" than the one on the Samsung. I guess at 26" it's even harder to tell, but I was quite close to both the sets.

But then what do I know? I'm still using a 28" CRT telly with no digital tuner.

I totally agree..... The vest is optional.

To be honest, I'm really pleased with my Sony 32" tv that we bought 3 years ago from Sainsbury's. £400 on special offer and yes, we got nectar points too. It's 720p, got 2 scart and 2 hdmi, PC port and the red/white/yellow thingies too (good technical term that).

It does everyting that it needs to and as I don't watch tennis, I'm not worried about whether the balls are fuzzy or not. Works fine with the xbox360 (given to us because it had the red ring of death), Wii (Ok; we bought that one), DVD (gift) and Sky+ (which we got for free following a complaint to Sky), leaving us with a spare HD port if we wanted to get a PS3. We've even got a recycled set of 2.1 Logitech PC speakers that we can connect up to it if we want to boost the sound a bit.

On the basis that I blagged most of the peripherals, I think I win on the cheapskate stakes. Where's my prize?
