Can I get away with not using a stamp?

It really gets on my nerves how companies don't provide pre-paid envelopes when they ask for replies.
How likely is that a letter I put in the post to a company (say National Savings & Investments) gets delivered if I don't use a stamp? I'm more than happy if the recipient gets charged! And if not, what will happen to the letter - get destroyed or returned to me?
For a company that you're a customer of you can either pay the price of a stamp for the price of a stamp or they can pay it and stick the cost on your bill as a hidden extra, with probably a 300% uplift "due to admin costs".If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -
Erm, since when have you know what my financial circumstances are? I may very well be very 'restricted', financially so don't compare me to others without knowing the full picture.
You only have to look at you post history on other topics to suggest that you may not exactly be a pauper.
Am I getting a little forgetful here or didn't the days of universal postage paid envelopes disappear years ago.
Put a stamp on it or don't post it. Your choice.0 -
Had someone tear up a phone bill reminder and just throw it out of the car window in our car park, posted it back to them as they forgot to remove their name and address before they dumped it. Love to see their face when collecting it after paying the fee.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

8p, is of course, the difference in price between a second class large letter and a first class letter!
underpaid items are charged at 2nd class costs
to the OP,some companies pay charges, some dont
in my old office we delivered to a lot of large banking offices
some had accounts, some paid the cards and others had instructions not to charge any items and just return to sender/destroy
sometimes we would get snooty letters that it was not the banks responsibility!
the worst for underpaid items(or often no postage) were letters to the tax office0 -
