Hmm it doesnt say brand new to Last minute or brand new owners.. it says Brand new property?

I wouldnt think OP is alone in being led to believe that this is a brand new hotel

    Indeed.

Well it's the first thing said in a very small bit of descriptive text. Maybe this wouldn't matter much to some people here but the hotel and/or website are clearly using it as a major selling point so expecting it to be accurate isn't unreasonable - this isn't the same as complaining the blurb promised they'd leave 3 mints on your pillow every morning and they've since had to cut back to 2.

As to those saying "its old text that hasn't been updated", you may well be right, but that makes it an "honest mistake" instead of a "cynical attempt to rip people off". Now that's all well and good but either way that is still a mistake and its surely not the OP's fault or problem.

The OP doesnt have to tell us. Its not relevant to the question.

It is relevant if he is just being difficult for the sake of it. Why complain if the hotel meets his needs?

Maybe he wants to cancel as the place is £70 cheaper per night on Laterooms?

I was wondering if this was the case, but apparently it is irrelevant!
    Gone ... or have I?
  • There could be a number of reasons why the hotel has been described as brand new
    - maybe a new chain has taken it over, brand new to that chain?
    - it has recently been refurbished

A lot of ways around it, but because it's a Mystery Hotel there is so much wide open in terms of getting out of it.

Here is another case of booking via people like lastminute.com, laterooms etc... these are BOOKING AGENTS which mean they act on behalf of the hotel, this means if you have any problems, trouble, raise a complaint etc the BOOKING AGENT has no obligation to help you. The contract is between you and the hotel. The alternative way is to book with a company that acts as PRINCIPLE where the contract is between you and the travel company you have booked with. Booking through a PRINCIPLE is much safer because if you needed to make a claim, you can take them to court in the UK. Booked with a BOOKING AGENT and your pretty much left on your own to sue the hotel in their country. A travel agent would be the best people to contact because they will know who is a BOOKING AGENT and who acts a PRINCIPAL - there has been so much going on in the industry over the past few years about cases like these.

Also, financial protection is a big thing at the moment, if you book with a BOOKING AGENT your more likely to loose your money than with a PRINCIPLE.
