O2 pay monthly SIM order - billing con?

Options
Hi,
I'm wondering whether anyone else has ordered a pay monthly SIM from O2 and if so were you billed from the order date?
Just received an email saying some of my order is in stock and some is not, even though I only ordered one item, but my billing has already been set up, billing period started two days ago. My card hasn't arrived yet.
Surely they can't bill me when I haven't even received the SIM?

they dd that with me - call them up when you receive the card and ask for a refund for the time you hadn't had the card - they said they would refund me and it will show up on the next month's bill

I had exactly the same thing happen to me. I got the email saying my item was out of stock (a sim card!) and 6 days later I called the customer service centre who said it wasn't out of stock but had got lost in the post. She said I should go to an O2 store and get one from there and ask the sales agent to call the contact centre who would match them up. This filled me with horror, call me cycnical but I just knew this whole process would be fruaght with problems!

Anyway went home that night only to find the sim had been delivered that day!

This happened to me last time I had a contract with O2. The SIM took more than a week to arrive (they blamed Royal Mail).

I was told it wouldn't be a problem though. And supprisingly it wasn't.

They start the contract as soon as you sign up, but will refund the cost of the time between signing up and the first time you use the SIM, if you ask them to.

So when you get the SIM (through the post or instore), phone up customer services and ask them to refund any cost up to that point. They'll know this is the first time you've used it.

Exactly the same with me this week, confusing emails, no sim, can't use the service but they are billing me. Surely it is illegal to charge for goods and services not supplied.

Come on Martin, time for a new campaign. How many people just accept this abuse for a quiet life?
