They have actions held at various places around the country too. You may be able to pick up something cheaper, depending on whose there.Never buy a stupid dwarf -

I would not use one the companies the advertise these things, they tend to be a fiddle where they rent you the plate or charge high fees.
The best thing to do is put the £300 or so in an UK Income & Growth Investment trust and forget about it until your 40th Birthday.
Other than spend the money on a holiday, the number plates are really naff unless you can spend loads, better to have some nice holiday photos than a piece of plastic! My Mind wanders, if found please return.0 -
One think to think about is the cost of having a private plate. I have one and when I changed car they (DVLA) charged me £80 for taking it off my car and putting in on my new one. I cost that will have to be paid each time.
Oh yes and if you decide not to put the plate back on the car then at present your are charged £25 a year to keep it in your draw at home.

Hi joffy,
You should get more help with this on the Motoring board, so I'll move your thread over there. In the meantime these older threads might help you:

Try the DVLA as suggested earlier. I got mine from them. I did my research legwork and looked at all the private companies but they were soooooo expensive. Good luck and happy birthday!0

I saved money by changing my name to match my existing plate.

(Thanks to Viz Comic for this one)Can I help?0 -
Yup, I vote DVLA too. I got one last year from them. It was simple, easy and smooth. Everything other than getting the plate made up was sorted by the DVLA.
The same plate on another website would've cost me £250 more, and I'd have had the hassle of sending my documents to them which I didn't really want to do.
So, big up for DVLA on this one0 -
thanks, ive had a good look on the internet, and discovered i can get what i want for £250 all in, which is the cheapest i have found,so i think dvla is the way, thanks for all your help!!0
