Private Number Plate

Want to buy a private number plate for my wife as a present, however,

From the DVLA website the price is £250

From other web sites the price is £199

This is an available number plate, just wondering what the price difference represents, do the DVLA do the complete service and the others charge you more for transfering or something?

Appreciate any help on this one.

Usually the DVLA price includes the £80 (?) charge for transferring the plate onto a vehicle - the other sites exclude that. Check out the small print carefully for details of 'hidden' charges.

as xycom1 says, check the samll print very closely.

The plate that is one different (P6 instead of P7) from the one that I bought from DVLA all in for £250, is advertisd for £199 at r*gtransfers.com - but by the time they have added assignment fee & VAT to the price it is now £313.82 0ver £60 dearer.

All the other sites will have to buy the plate from the DVLA first (without discount) and still need to make a profit. None of them will hold a large stock of their own plates.

The DVLA fee of £250 is all-in (excl. acrylic plates).
Other sites will charge VAT & £80 fee on top of the advertised price.

If it's available at the DVLA, buy it there.

Yes, definately go with the DVLA, they will be the cheapest.
