O2 Data 200 net access

I signed up in April this year for it which gives me a heck of a lot of time on the net. Now for one reason and another, i rarely use the service yet pay the £29.38 every month.

I rang up and asked when i can drop the package and was told that its 6 months after i signed up. So on 14 October i have to ring up and say i want it reduced to a lower price, but it doesn't change for another month on my bill...Is this right or can i call in September so in the October bill its lower?? Follow?
