the iniatial meeting went ahead and they are off to consider more information and they paid me but not they were happy to
next question they have said that if i am dismissed (very good chance of this) they want me to pay the full amount back of the car loan which i currently owe approx £4000 of the £7000 i borrowed, the car cost me £8000 when i paid for it as i had a part exchange, if i dont pay back the full amount they want to take the car off me
there is no hp or finance registared against the car and the log book is in my name the loan agreement does mention that the car is the property of the council until the loan is paid in full which is fine i just cant afford to pay it in 1 lump but have offered to continue paying the loan until i am in a position to pay the full amount but can they legally take the car without my consent
I assume you are planning on selling the car? Otherwise, how are you going to be able to pay for the car when you are unemployed?0 -
i live out in the country so if i was to sell the car due to the mileage i have done the car is not worth enough to pay off the loan in full and if i was to sell the car i then wouldnt be able to get a new job as i wouldnt be able to get to work
yes i know the fact i borrowed with the intention to replace the toner cartridge was stupid and i totally hold my hands up to this
but i want to know where i stand with the car, no car = no job nearest city is 40 + miles away
i was hoping to carry on paying the loan amount each month until i find a new job then i will be able to get a loan from the bank to pay off in full but the bank are not goig to give me a loan if i have no job are they0 -

But how are you going to pay the loan off if you are on £60 a week JSA???? Especially if you are dismissed for theft, you'll have one hell of a job getting another job.
Mind you, this is all moot as I doubt very much that the company will let you sail off into the sunset with their car and a vague promise of monthly repayments.
Got to say, I have little sympathy for you - some of your posts about how you are going to feed your family sound a little petulant.0 -
Why on earth would your company be happy to help you out when you stole from them and then scammed your way out of the loan agreement with them which stated immediate repayment on leaving.
As said you have no one to blame but yourself and your union rep is probably not very good because there is no defence for theft.0 -

So you've risked a circa £25,000 job for a £65 toner. I hope you aren't an accountantIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0

No offence to the OP, but to put his job, his livelihood, his car and his family's well-being at risk because of a petty theft ?
Im sorry .. . he's a bl**dy idiot.0 -
In defense of the OP. He said he borrowed a toner cartridge that he intended to replace it.
People may or may not believe him - again why not give him the benefit of the doubt.
Unless there are other key factors to this which we aren't being told I for one hope he gets a warning but can keep his job.
Everyone who is having a dig. Have a little sympathy. For the one mistake he could lose quite a bit. He certainly didn't post here to get abuse, and is surely feeling low enough without others having a go.
Would you be happier if he was unemployed and the taxpayers paying for everything he needs in future.
By the way OP did you ever take work home, print work off at home etc? I know the meeting is over now and you are awaiting a decision but if you mention you do that they could be more lenient?
I hope it all works out well for the OP.Debts: Virgin Card [STRIKE]£5,600[/STRIKE] £5,636, First Direct [STRIKE]£7,700[/STRIKE] £7,000, Halifax [STRIKE]£3,200[/STRIKE] £3,810, Halifax Clarity [STRIKE]£755[/STRIKE] £711, Tesco [STRIKE]£4,005[/STRIKE] £4,450, MNBA [STRIKE]£6,700[/STRIKE] £6,580, Loan [STRIKE]£15,834[/STRIKE] £15,218 Total: [STRIKE](45K at highest) £43,794k[/STRIKE] £43,4050
