Is there any advantage in having a 'full version' ?
I have been using winrar for years with the free version. The nag screen seems to be only thing that affects use.
The link is always busy, and so seems a waste of time !0 -
Just downloaded mine , it seems to be hit & miss whether you connect or not .0

This actually does work. When you finally get through the winrar website, you get e-mailed a link. That's for the registration key only. The instructions in the e-mail didn't work for me; so I downloaded version 3.51 from the rarlabs site. I then used it to extract the registration key, which I copied to the winrar folder in program files. There was a key there already, but it's the evaluation one. Then I started Winrar, and clicked on "Help" and "About" to discover that it was registered to "PCA Special Offer".
No idea what that's all about - but I have a licensed copy of Winrar. Thanks to the O.P.!0 -
Because of the difficulty in getting on to the webpage, I registered using both IE6 and Firefox; and a second key e-mail just turned up. I've successfully downloaded the registration key (we'll go with "eventually") and opened them both up in Notepad. They're identical.
I'd probably be doing Winrar a public service if I posted the registration key, but I doubt if they would see it that way. Anyone got any ideas for how this could be distributed in a more sensible manner?
Anyone use Anonymizer for posting to newsgroups, for example?

For anyone having trouble using the normal link...
I was having problems connecting to the site through the initial URL, so I tried something and it worked for me! I connected to the HTTPS version ... https://www.win-rar.com/bestoverallutility
I also had to manually add the S into the URL they emailed me - so if they email you http://www.win-rar.com/bestoverallutility/download.php?id=something, you would use https

PMs to those that are interested? (hint)0

If everyone is getting the same licence key for a non-upgradeable version and there was no agreement not to distrubute it....
Was there a non-distribution agreement?
If anyone is having problems. let me know.0
