Found this on another forum. It's a free license for Winrar 3.51.
WinRAR recently was voted as the best overall utility in the Shareware Industry Awards Foundation People's Choice Award. To celebrate that fact they're going to be giving away the full single user non-upgradable version of WinRAR 3.51 this Sunday July 30th from 00:00 to 24:00 CET.

The site is getting hammered at the moment, keep refreshing the page until you get through, or try later during the day

Thanks - I've always found that WinRAR far outperforms the more popular WinZip. Hopefully this will see more people using it and cut down the size of Email attachments etc.Can I help?0

It's a file compression utility, like WinZip, but allegedly with a better compression algorithm that makes compressed files slightly smaller. I've used it for ages and would recommend it if you can get a genuine licence for free.
As an alternative, check out 7Zip (http://www.7-zip.org/). It can unpack .zip and .rar files, and compresses in it's own .7z format, which is also supposedly more efficient than standard .zip files. Best of all, it's permanently free to use.0 -

I been using it for about 7-8 years now, it is a very good compression program and often better than winzip, however that said, bare in mind that the latest build is V3.60 beta 8, the problem with it is that it is known to not always be backward compatable with latest rars that are compressed with with last build. I had this problem only the other week so upgraded to the latest build 3.60 from 3.50 this has happened before with other builds too.0
