Santander zero

I have just received a santander zero cc. I applied for this card, purely for use on a foreign holiday. I've been allocated a relatively small credit limit. There is a probability that I may well exceed the credit limit while I am away.
Would I be able to, via my own bank account (on line), pay off some of the accrued debt before the actual credit limit has been reached.

Thanks

  • May want to check whether your credit limit is a 'per month' limit or total card / transaction spend limit

If its a monthly limit - can you apply to have it increased (I have the same card for the same reason but my limit was ok hence not checking)
If transaction / total card limit you should be fine - but be aware that it can take up to 5 days for the credit to show as clear on your credit card.

I'm sure someone with more experience can clarify further for you though.

    Take care
  • I'm asuming the credit limit shown on the letter that accompanied the credit card is
the total amount I'm permitted to spend on the card.

You can. You wont find details on their website though. You have to phone them to get the sort code/account number needed to set up a bill payment facility.

the information is on Santander's website.

How do I pay off my Credit Card?
You can make a payment in a number of different ways. You can pay online direct from your account by quoting:
    Sort Code: 09-00-99
    Account Number: 01000007
Reference: Your Credit Card Account number

Google 'santander zero credit card payment details' and it's the 2nd link. I would post the link but it's really long. Or go to their website->contact us->credit cards
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
  • It's good they give it somewhere, because when you log in and try to make a payment there is no easy way of doing it.
  • We have just applied for our zero card. Note that if you do not use your card for 6 months they charge you a £10 fee. We'll be going abroad twice this year then cancelling the account once it's paid up.

Are you not planning to go abroad after that? Easy to put through a small payment every four or five months and keep the benefit of no foreign exchange loading.
  • Thanks, the odd little bit now and then will be ok as long as we pay it off straight away. The high APR puts us off using it regularly.

I just had a quick look at this card, I wanted one for emergencyoccasional use on foreign holiday, how is this one better than any others?:)
  • As a new member I can't post the link, but look at Martins' main site for cheap travel plastic.
