Afternoon all!
I am 52,higher rate tax payer and looking to invest £10,200 into S&S ISA to cover this & next years' allowance.
I can miss this money for 10 years & want to find a secure investment.
I have read lots of articles and scanned many threads here.
I know the ultimate decision(and responsibility) is mine but I am thinking of doing the following.
1.Buying an Invesco Perpetual High Income ISA via Hargreaves & Lansdown.
or
2.Jupiter Absolute Return ISA which has slightly higher risk attached.
Both come highly recommended in the Broadsheets & Investment Times etc.
Am I looking along the right lines or are there any other options I should look at.
PS-I have £500 per month I can invest for the next 10 years too.
Thanks.Gary.:)

medium/high risk.
I think you need to clarify what you mean by secure or low(ish) riskPS-I have £500 per month I can invest for the next 10 years too.
You should be looking at self balancing funds then if you are a lazy investor or more than one fund if you intend to handle your own diversification.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Thanks Dunstonh. By secure or lowish risk I mean S&S ISA'S etc that will give me more growth in the long-term than the banks but without too high a risk.Whilst i can afford to put the money away(i cant afford to lose it) I will use the investments to build up a "nest egg" for use in 10-12 years which I can use to live off for 3 years before a draw my pensions.0

When you say you can't afford to lose it...it sounds like the S&S ISA you have been considering may not be the best idea for you. There is always a risk with these investments. The 'safest' alternative might be something like the Barclays Fixed Rate Investment ISA - gives you about 4% per year for 5 years. Not the best interest you will find for locking in your money, but it is 'safe', tax-free and allows you to make use of the S&S ISA allowance which you might otherwise not be able to spend without risk. There are bound to be alternatives along these lines, but to be honest I haven't looked into it much myself.0

OK. Let me ask it a different way. How much loss in a 12 month period would you accept before you got cold feet? 20%, 40%, 60% etc (or anything in between that)I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
