Subway Kids meal waste

By cutting one in half they are making sure they can sell the other half to an adult as is, or trimming a couple of inches off it and selling it to a child. Two potential customers instead of one.
The bits they cut off don't bother them, as the customers are paying for them anyway.
Spot on.
Actually, the official way to prepare the Kids Subs is to cut a bread into three. For the reasons stated by Geordie Joe however, it usually works out better for the store to cut the end off a 6" bread rather than committing a full bread to be used for kids Subs only. This also means customers can choose any bread they like for the Sub, as officially kids Subs should only be on Italian or Wheat to help reduce waste.0 -
Never bother with kids meals - just buy my kids a 6" and ask the staff to cut it in half.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Our local Subway used to do a bun in the kids meals, which was fine, but I noticed they don't do them any more. Our son got too big and moved on to a 12" Sub a year or two ago! The bun was a much better option for smaller kids as nothing was wasted.
That tends to happen when they eat processed c^ap :rotfl:0 -
They do it purely to stop adults taking advantage of the kids meal deal.
If I go into my local Subway on my own and buy a kids meal, they will cut the end off. If I go in and my 7 y/o daughter is with me, they will leave the ends on. Purely because they know that it is genuinly for a kid, rather than an adult trying to 'cheat' them.
Fortunately, my local Subway have now got to know me, as I often get my daughter a Sub for her packed school lunch and they now leave the end on(they still taste great, after a night in the fridge, at home). She may only be 7, but she hates getting the small version.0 -

To be honest, this is true. There needs to be a distinction between the "adult" and kids Subs to stop the adults taking advantage of the Kids Pak deal (which to be honest, isn't really profitable).0
