Subway Kids meal waste

Options
Is it just me or has anyone else notice how Subway chain waste bread when making a kids meal sub?
I hate it when the cut off 2" from a half sub just to make a smaller kids sub and throw that end away. Okay its not a lot of bread but sure when you add up all the kids meals and ends thrown away it must mount up to some waste.

i would rather pay an extra few pence to allow a "large kids meal"...

I've had the very same thought, i'd rather they leave the end of the bread roll on and forgo the cookie (kids might not see it the same way though).

yeah seems a waste of food considering the food prices these days and considering the starving people on other side of world.

Our local Subway used to do a bun in the kids meals, which was fine, but I noticed they don't do them any more. Our son got too big and moved on to a 12" Sub a year or two ago! The bun was a much better option for smaller kids as nothing was wasted. :(

Is it special bread they use for the kids meals or do you just pick one of the subs from the normal kinds? OP said they cut 2" off a half sub, which is 6". Why not just cut the full sized 12" sub into 3 for the kids meals, therefore nothing would be wasted? Or am I doing my maths wrong? :o

if they had logic they would do that!:p or at least ask the company to reconsider how they sell kids meals to avoid food waste.

Your maths are right, but at the point of cutting one into three they can't guarantee two more kids will come in and buy the other two pieces.

By cutting one in half they are making sure they can sell the other half to an adult as is, or trimming a couple of inches off it and selling it to a child. Two potential customers instead of one.

The bits they cut off don't bother them, as the customers are paying for them anyway.
