At the moment I'm on the verge of getting seriously told off because of one target I'm not hitting as a result of it so it really really winds me up. I bet you would be irritated to if something beyond your control was affecting your performance (and therefore pay) at work too!

Not saying that people shouldn't be able to call in to speak to companies for free - I believe that all companies should offer appropriate 0800 or geographic numbers. Its just a sod that saynoto.... has the number for my team!

Have you considered printing the relevant saynoto page and giving it to anyone that even starts to mention that target? Surely the company is not so dumb they would penalize you for something so clearly out of your control. If this target is directly affecting your income, be proactive and take it up with your manager straight away.

I called my credit card company the other day using the 'phone number on the back of my card. Not the 0845 number for which I have to pay extra, but the "international number" that is actually a geographic number. These numbers are included in my TalkTalk package so costs me nothing extra.

I will use any number I can find to cut down on my bills and if a company has a problem with people calling them on the "wrong number," that's just tough.

If I could get straight through to the person/department I wanted I wouldn't mind so much, but having to go through three sets of "press 1 for this," or "press 2 for that" whilst paying for a premium rate call is just taking the mickey.
I married my cousin. I had to...

I always find that kind of response a bit annoying because how do you know the person isn't LOOKING for another job but is unable to find one? It's not like someone can go "oh well, I don't like this job, I think I'll start work as an airline pilot tomorrow, that pays well...."

Oooooh, now theres a good Idea. I'd look rather fetching in a captains hat :rotfl:

Managment are fully aware of the situation, but the response is "tough"

I agree with this and its a shame your management say tuff... have you are your colleagues thought of taking your OWN stats of how many of these calls you are getting?

we had a similar situation... nothing to do with sayno but basically our senior managers thought we were taking the P when we told them how many calls we got a day and laughed us off and pretty much called us lazy and said we did no work...

for a month we took stats everyday making a 5 bar gate of how many calls we got and our line manager presented this to the senior managment which made them go "oh" and they started to take into account our phone calls too! yay!

I have a similar problem (from the recieving end) I work in a call centre and each person we speak to affects our statistics (and therefore incentives!) I work in a department with an 0800 number which people are constantly using when they need to speak to someone else (which has an 0845 or geographic number - which we happily give out!). Really Really Really annoying

as an ex call centre manager I can assure you that it will be abundantly clear to your management from the call stats, specifically the length of time these calls take that they are not sales calls so I find it hard to believe they refuse to take them into account when measuring your performance
    .

Sounds like the management focus is on non productive sales staff which is perfectly reasonable given that they are employed to sell.

It also sounds suspiciously like staff trying to hide behind excuses rather than admitting they can't achieve their objectives and doing something about it.

The (popular UK chain) store I work at is the first number listed for the company - and there is no HO number on the page. As such we get *all* their calls when people don't want to ring an 0845 number, and expect us to be able to fix their issue at the other end of the country...

I had to promise to call the correct number next time..... of course i didn't LOL

It's really bugging me now which company it was now
  • We get people using saynoto to call my work…. Then they whinge when they get put through to the wrong people…. Maybe if you called the right department in the first place you wouldn’t keep getting put through to someone else!! Dozy people.
