I used saynoto to look up an 0845 number and called the company on the 0800 no. saynoto gave.
While the receptionist put me through to the relevant department she also was quite insistant that the next time I called I should use the correct direct dial number for that department and asked me to make a note of it.
I got put through to the department I wanted and after concluding my business I was also told that I should use the direct 0845 number as I would get through quicker.
Yeh right! I would rather be on the phone for 30 minutes and multiple press 1 for etcs. using an 0800 number than 10 minutes using an 0845 number on Virgin's landline at 10p a minute plus 10p connection charge.
£1 for a 10 min call on Virgin:eek:

Just bluff it and say you will do and the next time if they ask say you lost the original number and this one was the only one stored in your phoneAlways ask ACAS0

sod that! I tell companies I'm calling via saynoto, lol!!!
Or if I get given a expensive number, I tell them I will find an alternative on saynoto!

If youm sign up with Talk Talk you can (for about £23 per month) get line rental, 40 GB internet and unlimited calls to 0870/0845 numbers!
I even build call credit so I can call my fiancee in the Philippines for free, using www.precaller.co.uk. So, I never pay more than £23 per month, virtuall no matter how much I use the phone!
My mobile phone deal is cashback with e2save, works out at 88p/month (after cashback) and I got a free phone to boot! That is 400 minutes to other mobiles each month!0 -
I have a similar problem (from the recieving end) I work in a call centre and each person we speak to affects our statistics (and therefore incentives!) I work in a department with an 0800 number which people are constantly using when they need to speak to someone else (which has an 0845 or geographic number - which we happily give out!). Really Really Really annoying :mad:Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0

So, we should pay extra for our phone calls, so you can earn more?!0 -
Earn more? Earn something more like
At the moment I'm on the verge of getting seriously told off because of one target I'm not hitting as a result of it so it really really winds me up. I bet you would be irritated to if something beyond your control was affecting your performance (and therefore pay) at work too!
Not saying that people shouldn't be able to call in to speak to companies for free - I believe that all companies should offer appropriate 0800 or geographic numbers. Its just a sod that saynoto.... has the number for my team!Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0 -

I really couldn't give a flying wotsit either. Find another job if it bothers you that much.Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £24,616.090 -

I always find that kind of response a bit annoying because how do you know the person isn't LOOKING for another job but is unable to find one? It's not like someone can go "oh well, I don't like this job, I think I'll start work as an airline pilot tomorrow, that pays well...."0
