Fresh Contract: Any Network Advice Please

Ive been with 3G for years and my contract is coming to an end in the next 2 weeks; i put in my 30 days notice and the upgrade offers have been terrible. They offered me the HTC Hero on a 24month contract at £25 month, 500 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet- exactly what they'd offer a new customer!!!! Some loyalty. I want a similiar package, (but ideally at a lower cost and/or on an 18month contract) and either a HTC Hero or IPhone or something equivalent. Any good packages out there with other networks?
Also any advice on getting something knocked off on a new contract?
