I was on sky before, and had lightening speed. I definitely noticed the difference.
I rather doubt that. If you were on Sky a couple of years ago (?), ADSL2+ was not available then, so the max you would have got would have been a theoretical 8Mbps. Maybe 7Mbps in practice, which is almost what you are getting now.
Your exchange may now support ADSL2+, and your line may support more than 8Mbps, but the O2 Home service is capped at 8 Mbps anyway.
If you getting a slower service than with Sky, it is going to be an issue with the line or with your own wiring or wireless set up.No free lunch, and no free laptop

The download speeds on Sky were noticeably faster.
I definitely noticed it - especially when using itunes.0 -

Then this is nothing to do with O2, it's just your wireless connection.
Start by changing the channel on the router, try 2, 6 or 11 and experiment to see which is best. All depends what your neighbours are using.
And get BT on the case once you've done the Quiet Line test.No free lunch, and no free laptop

That has nothing to do with O2. The chances are that there are more people using WiFi near you now than there were then and your connection is dropping because you are on the same channel as one of your neighbours.xxdiddiexx wrote: »I said it was rubbish because the wireless connection keeps dropping, and I never had this problem when I was with sky.

I was told the same thing....Broadband will be free for life of contract!!!!
I rang O2 broadband as I received an email saying that the offer had come end. The operator said that the offer should have ended over a year ago but there was a technical hitch and over 4,000 people had received broadband for free when they shouldn't have.
I mentioned that I had been told over a year ago that it was free for the life of the contract and she said that a lot of customers had mentioned this but that it was NOT TRUE! She said that customers could interpret it either as the life of mobile or of broadband but I still have both!
I'm very confused but they have given me three very reasonable options and I find the service fine.
BUT yes, they did say to both my mum and I that it would be FREE for the life of the contract!!!!0 -
Thank you!
Glad to hear that someone else has the same issue!
What were the 3 options you were given?
Mine was pay £7.50 a month
or sign up for a year and get fist 3 months free.
2nd option is no good to me as I will not be living here in s year.0 -
Hey
I also got a text about this a few days ago, and my bill for broadband has actually debited at £7.50 this month. However the text said I would get an email which I havent.
When I took out the broadband I did query how long I would receieve it for, and was told for life as long as I stayed an o2 customer. I have an email stating that from an o2 representative.
What do you think I should do? I feel its unfair that they can just change the cost, even if it is only £7.50.
