Strong glass cleaner needed

After having my conservatory built its finally about dry (been 4 odd months to get the slab dry!)

Im trying to get the pilkington/protective rubber sticker marks off all the windows but im yet to find a glass cleaner that moves them. tried couple supermarket branded cleaners and they not shifting them. Made up my own using white vinegar and water, no good.

Think i need some sort of strong stuff to dissolve the sticky residue left, any ideas?

I dont have a suggestion but whatever you do dont use caustic soda, this can permanently etch glass.

    You could always ask pilkington?

Would white spirit remove the sticky marks or would that damage the glass?

have you ever noticed what science labs use to store volatile chemicals? yup, glass

anyhow, I would suggest trying acetone or wood alcohol along with the quoted poster's decent suggestion of white spirit.

I was meaning the coating that is on the glass if it's the self cleaning type ;) (and depending on what side the sticker is on)

Lakeland.co.uk do a sticky stuff remover which is organic (I think) and works really well. I use it all the time.

Has a nice orangy smell too.

If you've got any eucalyptus oil in the house that works well removing stick label residue. It wont come off instantly, you need to keep rubbing it in to soften the adhesive but it should only take a couple of minutes.

Get the installer back to clean it off, they should not have left them like that.
