new smartphone help

hi guys i currently have the SE satio and im looking for another phone now i dont know what i want but i definately want a touch screen as its better for me (arthritis) i would like a phone that u can download apps straight to it or at least without the need for hacking etc as i have found with the satio unless u hack it its pretty poor when it comes to downloading things any ideas whats out there or anything in the pipeline soon??

What is your budget? Have you looked at iPhones - so many apps I doubt you would need to jailbreak!

well i can change to a new contract with anyone i have thought about the iphone but i know that theres a new one out soon so i don't know whether to wait for that or get something that will rival it?

Strange, as I have a Satio, to load apps, just simply drag and drop, seems you are doing somethig wrong there if you have to hack it (didn't even know it could be hacked or why it needs to be hacked) :eek:

i can hardly find any apps for it play now isn't that good and all that i'm finding is things that are either sis or zip or other files that won't be coverted onto the phone without downloading or extracting things to do this plus the phone has lots of faults with lagging and the internet is sooo slow amongst other things and thats all with the new software! I want rid of it to be honest its been 3 months to long to have this phone

Sis files are symbian and that is what the phone is, so the files simply drag drop and work , As the phone is symbian, then OVI store, getjar, symbianworld and many many others offer apps for the phone, I suppose if you want 1000s of pointless apps then yes an iphone may suit you better, as yet no one has told me what an iphone can do that the satio or any other smartphone will not, I have to take my hat off to apple for their marketing team, they have done a splendid job .
Remember you can't multitask on an iphone, but as long as you dont want to recieve vcard files, make videos take indoor pictures and numerous other shortcomings of the iphone then yes go for one

i'm finding it hard to find anything good with the satio tho mine is unhacked my hubbys is hacked and so far i'm of the opinion that my previous se was faster and could do almost the same things as the satio only real difference being the camera i suppose. Anyhow b4 the mse team say that the thread is going off topic is there anything other than the iphone?

When you say good, that is where it gets difficult, indeed there is a big push on iphone, but in practice, it is far from a benchmark phone , however as for choosing a smartphone (all should allow self installation of user useful applications) , then the purchaser will have to decide if they want extra hardware support like GPS, Wifi connection , 3g support, camera , and then as for apps things like the OS system will come into play, whether Android, Palm, Symbian, Windows mobile, apple,blackberry, symbian is the largest most used phone OS, however it is short sighted to say one is best or that everybody else should throw the towel in now that iphone is here, it is substandard for many users, however it may suit your needs, the blackberry storm2 maybe worth a look, but from what you posted , you may as well get an iphone and satisfy your curiosity, :beer:
