So out of your £800 per month net income try saving £300 per month for a few months and see how difficult/easy that is for you. If your bank can see that you can put this aside into a deposit account then they may look on an application more favourably as you will have proved you can make the repayments.
If you can't manage £300 per month, then better you find out now rather than end up having the bike repossessed and a nasty black mark on your credit history.
Why does everybody want everything now - what's wrong with saving up and waiting a while (and it's got nothing to do with being young - my parents used to make me save up for stuff when dinosaurs ruled the earth - that way I really appreciated anything that I bought with my own money)!0 -

thanks for the sensible advice. the reason i wanted to get it now is because summer is upon us and that's the best time for riding. i can save 600pm (have saved about 1100 in the past two months) but of course, by the time i reach my approximate £4k goal summer will be over and buying a new bike will be pointless. i also need one before the end of August as i need to get to Cheletnham and doing it on my crap bag cb250 would be a suicide mission :rotfl:
i guess it's like you all say though, save then buy. i'd ask my grandparents to lend me some wonga but i dont think they have any anymore. my grandmother used to work for RBS and was given 40k worth of shares which dissipated into about 3k when the stocks crashed0 -
Dude, spending 5k on a new bike is not an investment as it will definitely go down in value, unless of course you don't use it, store it in a bubble and keep it 30 years.
At 19, your insurance on a sports 600 is going to be quite steep.
At the risk of sounding patronising, 600 Bandit's aren't exactly tame. They put out more horsepower than you can legally use in 3rd gear upwards. My 1998 Fazer 600 would break the motorway speed limit in 2nd if I caned it, which of course I did.
And if your considering a sports 600 for motorway journeys, be prepared for aching wrists, unless you ride fast and keep the weight off your wrists. You'd me much, much better off with a more upright bike for long jaunts at 70-80. The riding position on the last sports bike I rode (1998 GSXR750) was absolutely crippling to me, and I'm 29 years old (not dead yet) and only 5'9''.
Seriously man, by a Fazer or a Bandit, use the power it has, and save a stack of cash for when your middle aged to by a power ranger mobile, or alternatively, for going out with your mates or on holidays..Skip dipper and proud....0 -

and the life expectancy of a 19yo on a sports bike is about 17 minutes, I think i was 21 thou when i parked my CBR600 where the back seats of an escort used to be0 -
My mate's SV does 145 with a set of decent pipes and a bit of fiddling but hey ho. Yamaha are also doing 0% on a range of models including the R6 with £99 down and 36 easy payments of £250. Actually Flearoy has a point you can get a GSXR 750 SRAD for about £2000 spend £500 sorting it out and you'll have what is still regarded as one of the best handling bikes on the road.Nothing to see here, move along.0

i've been riding for over two years now, had a zx6r for about 6 months and didnt bin it so i wouldn't judge my riding skill based on your experienceand it's not about top speed, more about the handling and power delivery. sv's are boring as hell.

i cant afford to insure a 2010 r6 so i'll be looking at bikes a little older. i think i'll just save as much as i can and try and get the last little bit i need from family and hope i can find what i want at a bit of a bargain price.0 -
and the bike climate atm is going pretty pantsyou should have a quick gander on ebay, not many sports bikes under 2k now which is odd as like you said, there were loads just last year. i wouldnt mind if you posted some results here :P
Yea people may want whatever for there bikes but are they actually selling or just sitting around gathering dust?
Can you get a 0% spend credit card, dunno if you earning enough for one but if you can one you could use that for all your spending and save up the money you need faster then save up the money to pay the card off at the end of the 12 months.Nothing to see here, move along.0 -
Is there any companies that will do you a hire for the summer? Spend some time on google. You could get the bike you wanted (or better) for less money, and keep saving, you could then have enough for next summer but as you would still have a bike this summer you wont feel like your missing out.
Just a thought.....0 -

Saw a nice VFR800, R reg I think with about 30k on the clock for £2500. Would that suit. Could be tempted myself!Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.
