Quick DD contract question

Been looking around for a nice phone for the wife and we have decided on a Nokia 6111 (pink). I am getting it through Mobileshop.com (via Quidco) and have just come to the DD section. I like to have all my DD set up for the first day or so of the month, so was wondering if anyone could shed any light on how this works.

Is the DD with the provider (in this case O2) or the retailer?

Is the DD set up on the date that I place the order or when I am first connected?

Can't phone Mobileshop.com today as they close at 14.00.

my o2 came out 1st every month, just call (lack of) customer care like I did and choose your date

The direct debit is setup with the network/service provider (in your case o2)
The DD date is random depending on when the order is fully processed.
But as seaniboy said above, you can call o2 and request your own DD date
Also ask o2 when your cycle or billing date falls each month, as your first allowance of free minutes will be pro-ratad from your connection date to your billing date, so dont get caught out thinking that you have 200 or 400 (or however many minutes you get per month) minutes to use starting from the day your fone 'comes on' until 1 month after that date.
