Cheapest easiest TV, please help :)

Hi. I am after a bit of advice please. I apologise if this has been covered many times before but I have been searching for similar threads and the ones coming up are a few years old so not sure if they are still applicable.

I currently have Sky + multiroom with second box being a regular sky box. I have the package which includes film and sport and pay just under £60 a month. Due to financial restraints I am trying to improve my costs.

I am currently trialling LoveFilm which will cost 15.99. My hubby goes to he pub for important football matches but mostly just watches match of the day so I think sport is gone.

I am with Virgin already and pay £32 for internet and phone. They have quoted £39.69 a month to include a basic V+ box or £49.16 it I include a basic box upstairs as well.

Total will be £65.15 a month instead of the £90 odd I pay at the moment.

However can I get it even cheaper? I keep finding threads from around 2007 saying about swapping from sky to freesat. Could I do that and use my current box thus saving another £10 a month and have that upstairs instead. Do I need to buy a £20 card. Do I write to sky to request this?

Any help and advice would be much appreciated!

The cheapest route would be to drop Sky entirely and use either the Sky FTA channels, or a Freesat PVR receiver with your existing dish if you require recording facilities. Even your 'reduced' package is still costing you £781.80 pa! You only need the £20 viewing card to get Fiver, Fiver and Five US. All the other Sky FTA channels are available without the card.
If you don't really need any subscription channels, why pay for them?
