Taxi drivers might be bad - But they aren't a patch on Lorry drivers.

Sure everyone saw in the news that Renault Clio being shunted along sideways down the motorway, stuck under the front of the cab...

Its not just taxi drivers though, i come across a variety of car drivers who dont use the indicators on roundabouts or when turning off onto a side road. OP if its taht bad then complain to the cab firm, try using a different cab firm in future if possible,

Also, when one taxi from the same company charges £5 to my house, and your taxi charges £5.80 half way to my house from the same pick up point at roughy the same time of day/night, do not expect me to keep my mouth shut.

Oh, I agree with that. A few months back, we had no car for a while and I had to use a taxi every day. It was the same journey, taking the same route at the same time each day, and on each day it took approximately the same time. I still can't work out how the charge ranged from £4.80 to £10.

I had a taxi driver come speeding towards me today on a really tight road, which has a sharp blind corner, his side of the road was blocked, Missed me by under and inch and he ended up mounting the pavement, he just about ended up in someones garden as he was going that fast he couldn't stop to avoid me. Leaving me with lovely scrathed alloy form having to be that close to the kerb that he didn't rip my fking wind mirror off

No idea why they think the rules of the road don't belong to them, I'm sick of having to slam the brakes on as they just come out of side roads with out checking the main road !

Or they way the don't indicate to let you know there pulling in to pick someone up / drop off and just stop in the middle of the road in front of you.

Sorry for my rant but after today I have to vent about them :T

Once had a taxi driver who decided not to wear his seatbelt and, as he drove, tried to find photos of a recent serious crash that he'd been involved in which he then made me look at! :(

I have to confess I do get a BIG KICK out of seeing a taxi driver get a pull by the police, it makes my whole Week if they get ticketed too.

The U-turn in the middle of a busy road whether legal or not, the pull up at the bus stops so as to ensure buses can only let passengers board by negotiating the busy main road and their uncanny ability to block the whole Road (however wide or busy it is) for a chat with their fellow cabbie's are my main bugbear's with taxi drivers. (the ability to completely disregard indicators, one way streets and traffic lights is hereditary).

Not all of them of course, they are not all that bad, about 90% of them :D

Legally they dont have to - it's an exception granted as they carry money and could get robbed / need to jump out at any time...

I must say round here you can always tell if theres a passenger in the back - if they are picking someone up it's 50 in a 30, if they have picked them up and the meter is running it's 25 in a 40 in 5th gear!

I have never had a bad experience with a taxi, and I use them at least a few times a month. The price is always the same unless it's after midnight or a Sunday when they use the increased tariff.
