1. The orange shiny things on each corner of your car are called indicators
2. The black thing sticking out of your steering column is called an indicator stalk, it makes the shiny things in item 1 flash
3. Other drivers blowing their horns and flashing their headlights at you unbelievably are NOT applauding you on your driving skills!
4. you will probably find that if you get a wash occasionally and you car doesn't smell like a sack of !!!!!!, you may get a gratuity more often.
5. Paying customers don't enjoy watching you fekking texting or updating your cabbie computer whilst wandering into the middle of the road at 5 miles an hour in 4th gear
6. Speed limits, don't be offended when I threaten to put the hand brake on if you don't ####ing slow down:mad:
This is based on my experiences over the last 4 weeks. I do appreciate there are no doubt lots of decent drivers out there and also hygenic ones, just not where I reside it seems

The advice I give on here is based on my many years in the preservation industry. I choose to remain anonymous, I have no desire to get work from anyone. No one can give 100% accurate advice on a forum if I get it wrong you'll get a sincere apology and that's all:D

I've just been amused by a taxi driver doing a 27 point turn outside my house, rather than drive round the block - which would've taken far less effort, it's not exactly a long way!0

I need to get me one of those "invisable parking space" detectors. You know the ones which allow taxi drivers to see a parking space in the middle of the road which blocks the entire lane while he picks up passengers.
Also, point number one about indicators. Taxi drivers know that they are there, but in taxi driver land, these are used to alert other drivers to the fact that they are parked in one of these invisable parking spaces. Apparently, if you put your hazard lights on, it means you can park anywhere you like.0 -
I once had a taxi driver who was eating a bag of crisps, texting and driving with his knees on the steering wheel. He went through every red light on the 20 minute journey home. He also was doing 65mph in a 40mph zone. I was quite scared but it was a few years ago after a night-out and we'd had a few too many to say anything to him.

In Coventry they have a yellow sticker on the side and back of the private hires so you know it's a genuine licensed cab. Personally I think they are warning stickers, rather like the hazardous waste signs you see on petrol tankers.0

Dear Taxi Driver - If I book a taxi for 8.30 am, then I expect the taxi to turn up around that time, although five minutes either way is acceptable. I do not expect you to turn up at 9.10 am, after ringing your office three times and being told that you were stuck in non-existant traffic 'just at the top of my road' for forty minutes.0

Dear Taxi driver,
I am not a tourist. I do not wish to have an extended tour of Manchester each and every time I have to get into a taxi, and when I tell you this after you have continued to take the p*ss I do not expect you to start driving even more erratically than you were before.
Also, when one taxi from the same company charges £5 to my house, and your taxi charges £5.80 half way to my house from the same pick up point at roughy the same time of day/night, do not expect me to keep my mouth shut.
Thanks.0 -
