medion seem to make cheap but well built kit.

I have one of their ppc250 handheld pda/gps jobbies and its been working fine for over 6 months....

I think £400 might be a little on the pricey side, esp as you can get lenovo base units with better specs for similar prices..and dell..but I stay well away from dell...

Had a medion pc for 2 years. The sound recently went off (my husband had done a bit of re-organising the stusy so I think it was his fault.)
However rang Medion and they sent an engineer out who fixed it. Unfortunately after he left the fan started being really noisy (like a hairdryer) I rang Medion and they said there was a known fix - something to do with updating a bios driver!!!!!!! They tried to talk me through it but what he was saying wouldn't work on my pc. They therefore sent the engineer out again. He said it was a different fan to what he thought it would be so am awaiting his return with the correct fan.
I think the customer service has been v good and I would definitely buy from them again
    .
All those who say their fans are noisy have you done this bios update that the Helpdesk says will fix the noise. (not that I know what I am talking about.)

royalsteve is right......so you get a 3 year warranty with Aldi.......so? In the meantime nobody makes AGP graphics cards anymore only PCI Express; the games everyone else is playing you cant play and Vista is the de facto operating system and you cant run it.........then you hope and pray that your pc breaks down so you return it to Aldi and they give you a refund? Like what if it doesn't break down? Its like someone saying to me 'heres a free pc but it only runs Windows 98'. I don't think so!

If I wanted to play games I think I'd spend the £300 the latest chavtastic graphics card costs on an XBOX 360.

I've never understood people paying £1000's on a computer to play games when consoles do a more than adequate job.

    You sound so ignorant.

Simple and most obvious answer is often the correct one.

Consoles might do it for you, but for the millions of PC gamers out there (World of Warcraft alone currently has over 6 million users) a console simply doesn't cut the mustard.

I'll have one! There are 4 PC's in our house and I have them all networked. Two on XP, one on ME and one on 98se. Guess which one is the most reliable? Yep, win 98 everytime. The XP ones are a pain in the bum.
Sounds like you're a prime Linux candidate!

The fan in the PC is quite loud although on the box it said it had a silent fan.
    No such thing! :D

  • it's a fairly decent value pc for the money, although the answer really depends on what you intend to use it for?

Not even close. I've worked in IT for 16 years, and believe it or not there are other functions on a PC than playing one game in a darkened room with people you've never met.

Everybody jumps on every pc "bargain" and immediately says, it's no good for gaming.

Most of us grew out of gaming when we discovered alcohol.

    You sound like a kid.
  • Ive built enough systems to say simply -

If its for normal stuff - surfing the web, music, photos - then it will be perfect.

If you do want it for games, the no it wont do. The AGP slot is outdated, and newer cards do cost more than the PCI equliavent.

In terms of Medion as a make, I had a laptop and a Desktop. The desktop failed after 366 days, the laptop in 2 years.

    I wouldnt recommend overall!

(oh and I do gaming and alcohol - sometimes at the same time, and I would always rather use a PC rather than a console)
