...As far as I can tell yes. I was always concerned about PCs from supermarkety places but thats a lot of PC for the money.

I already have a computer from medion and ive had no problems (except an extremely loud fan) so i know they are reliable, and aldi are good at refunds if it breaks.

I forgot to mention in the OP that it doesnt come with a monitor

Not too bad except for the graphics (onboard and only AGP for upgrade) and lack of a monitor. A couple of months back, you could get a Dell 5150 with same processor, RAM, slightly smaller HDD, no TV card or DVD-RW for around the same price. That one came with a 19" TFT though and a PCI-E card for upgrading the graphics to the most modern cards.

No Dell offers on at the mo but they always seem to come every few months so if you're in no rush...

    Cheers

    Jeff
(PS - downside with Dell is the automaton-like customer service. Probably the same with them all though)

I bought a Medion PC from Aldi over 3 years ago and have never had any problems with it, I just used my old monitor with it.

The fan in the PC is quite loud although on the box it said it had a silent fan.
    Cashback earned
    Quidco : £858 :)
    Pigsback : £20 and a Beatles CD.

Hey all, I'd say that was a *good* pc, but for the money you may be better looking at alternative special offers from Dell etc..

Not to mentions some medion/advent/gericom pcs have some notorious problems.

Bottom line: its a reasonable deal but dont be too short sighted

not sure if it will cope with the latest games with only an onborad graphics but it is supplied with an 8x AGP slot so its easy to upgrade

Dual core is a big plus over other sheap PC's around

Someone else managed to get a decent dual core Dell for not-a-lot and posted the address on this thread: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=235302

    Hope that helps

£400 is not worth it, The Dell 5150 almost always has a special offer or two on it with the 19" TFT which can fetch around £125 - £175 of your purchase price (Around £500) back.

Also the Dell is more future proof due to the PCI Express slots.

But I would wait a few more months since the new Intel processors will be in mainstream production shortly and therefore Dell will want rid of the old technology as quickly as possible.

The Philips refurb that was around on here a few weeks back was the same price (or about £35 less after cashback and coupons) but had dedicated PCI-e graphics and other stuff, but of course it was a refurb!
