Virgin Mobile seem to have robbed me!
Options
For the past 3 or 4 years we've been on a £10 a month contract for 300 min/300 text with Virgin. Anyhow, a few days after we cancel we receive a bill for £55 as I've gone over 300 minutes! Err, no I haven't, I've used 91 minutes and 5 seconds.
After spending a while on the phone ranting to a customer tolerator, my wife tells me that apparently VM have decided to round up the minutes, so it doesn't matter if you use 2 seconds or 59 seconds, you'll be charged for a minute.
Is this right? Can they change this without informing us?

Are you sure they haven't informed you - how does your wife know? You definitely didn't get anything in with your bills or a text? Did you ask customer service when they informed you of the change?Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

They told her when she phoned up to complain, I'm fairly certain there's no paperwork informing us of the change, but I'll have a good rummage around the house tomorrow.
The bill came as a bit of a shock! There are some days when even my lucky underpants can't help.0 -
This is why I check on here every day,(sad but you learn lots) I warn my grown up children or tell them of any good deals.
I'm sure there was a thread about this a couple of weeks ago.0 -
They do have to tell you about the change, i am not on virgin mobile but i got informed off it. It came with an update to virgin prices (telephone/cable TV/mobile/internet) it was on one of those they were increasing it to round up to a minute. I also believe i had an email from them if you signed up to E-Billing.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

Ask them to check their figures. Worst case is that each call you made lasted just under 1 minute so 91m 5s = 92 mins * 2 = 194 mins. Or maybe my maths arn't up to scratch?!
ETA Actually forget counting minutes, it's the number of calls you made that are as important here. Got my cold/flu head on...0 -

Actually, worst case is that each call lasted 1 second (highly unlikely I know but...)
That means 91 minutes x 60 one second calls = 5460 plus 5 makes a highly improbable 5465 minutes.0 -

They did inform every customer back in July last year and customers were given the option of cancelling and going elsewhere or staying put with a few extras depending on your usage. The change to first minute billing was implemented around September so it's been around for a while now.0
