Problem making telephone maestro payment with Clydesdale card

Hope someone can shed some light on this or possibly give me a solution!
Opened a new account with the Clydesdale Bank in December 2009.
Been using Maestro card with no hitches since then, but tried to pay £1000 towards balance of my holiday to Portland/Thomsons and they are saying the card no. is invalid.
I have contacted Clydesdale twice who say there is no problem with my card but Thomson are still saying the card number is invalid.
I know some folk have had problems with Clydesdale Mastercard debit cards but mine is Maestro as I have the basic Readycash account.
Someone from Thomson is going to call me back but I dont really think they will be able to take the payment at all.
Anyone else had this problem?

If you've used it elsewhere then it would appear to be a problem with the travel agent. Can you not pay via internet banking or with cash?Hope someone can shed some light on this or possibly give me a solution!
