Panorama, BBC1 on now, 'Chocolate-the bitter truth', about the use of child slave labour in chocolate production.
Didn't see this  Do we know which companys do this or is it across the board.....shame on them
Fairtrade choccie is good though and because its dearer might make me eat less0 -
While I wouldn't say I am addicted to chocolate compared to the OP and others here, there are times of the month when I NEED to have it. At those times, I find that a bag of nice nuts can help with the cravings somewhat. Not sure why, but at least they are somewhat healthier than choc, though not exactly slimming! When I say they help, I mean that I will have 2 normal bars and some nuts, rather than 3 or 4 large bars...
I also find that hot chocolate will hit the spot sometimes - usually in winter rather than summer, for obvious reasons! I think it is the sugar and fat that does it for me, as sometimes marshmallows or other sweeties will do in a pinch...
I do wish I could get rid of the cravings though, as my diet is fairly healthy otherwise, and I am sure I would lose weight if I could give up chocolate and sweets.Trust me - I'm NOT a doctor!0 -

It's a 'habit' just like thumb sucking or taking a teddy bear to bed.
I have 'issues' with cheese every now and again! But giving it the label 'addictive' doesn't help you do what you need to do. Control it at a reasonable level.
If it were addictive, then like alcohol or drugs, the only way to 'get better' would be to give up completely for the rest of your life.
Is that what you want?
I couldn't face life with no cheese ever again, so I just have it occasionally. Having a little bit doesn't make me disappear for lost weekends over to Wenslydale though!
its more than that there is a chemical process going on it the brain
chocolate and high fat foods (so cheap choc is a double hit) cause the brain to release hormones which make you feel good, this is what leads to cravings / addictive like behaviour
chocolate is also poisonous to humans but luckily a fatal dose is about 28 lbs, migraines from eating dark choc are a sure sign your body does not want choc.
cheese also triggers hormone release from the brain (and gets a double hit from its high fat content)
you can kick the habit but it takes will power, if you go 2 weeks without eating it your cravings will go, if you start eating it again guess what they will come back
an ex cheese junkie :j0
