Hi,
I am currently with Orange Broadband and and I want to move.
I have couple of broadband internet sites but I have the following message when I input my telephone number in:-
We have identified that you have some services on your line which are incompatible with Tesco broadband. These may include Featurenet, Redcare, Private Service, Exchange Branch lines or Copper Wideband Services. You will need to contact the provider of these services in order to confirm what you have in place. These services will need to be removed before we are able to provide you with Tesco broadband.
The same message is coming up on other braodband websites.
I have contacted BT and they said this is happening because my phone line is a split line. They way orange I have registered my broadband service with BT. Theu also said if I want to move I have to cancel my broadband and I apply somewhere else, I cannot use MAC code.
Has anyone came across this fault and what can I do to resolve it?
I do not want to completely cancel my service as it can take couple weeks to register with new Broadband service.
I hope you can help. Thank you
Mo

This is not a fault, you just get your MAC code from your current ISP(Orange) and give it to your new ISP who will arrange to switch over your service.
This is an example of how to do it, I'm not endorsing Madasafish.

I have tried doing this but when-ever I give them my phone number, they come back to me saying my line is not compatible.0

Hi,
Please ignore my last post. I have input mu phone number on https://secure.madasafish.com/broadband/adsl/default.asp?brand=16&cli=01217531040&u=&ref= and it is asking for a MAC code.
Are Madasafish any good?
Thanks

Don't know how good Madasafish are but there have been several threads about them on the forum and their customer service people often post messages. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

I'm having a problem finding any ISP other than Madasafish who will accept the MAC code supplied to me by Orange Broadband. From what I'm led to believe, Orange MAC codes start with LLU (Local Loop Unbundling) whilst most ISPs demand a MAC code starting with BBIP or BBDS (IPStream). I am being advised that I have to cancel my Orange contract rather than migrate, which means 2 weeks without internet and a hefty connection fee. Are Orange allowed to offer these virtually useless MAC codes and, if so, are there any other ISPs who accept them?0
