Try other carbs like rice, cous cous, barley, millet, quinoa, whole oats. You said you eat beans but also try lentils or chickpeas.
Hi, I'm gluten and dairy intolerant so I sympathise with you OP.
Cous cous is a member of the pasta family believe it or not, so that's a no-no in terms of gluten. I found that out the 'painful' way lol. Also oats contain gluten so that's off the list too.
I don't find that I suffer with constipation much. If I eat gluten or dairy (say because I just fancy a normal sandwich for once) then I tend to find this makes me want to 'go' but if I eat large quantities over a few days then I get constipated.
I find that just by being careful and drinking plenty of fluids can help with the bowel problems. Maybe make a food diary of what you are eating because maybe you are still eating bits of gluten and dairy in your foods and this is causing the constipation?
You can get gluten free pasta - Doves Farm do some wholemeal gluten free pasta (sold in Tesco). It's obviously dearer than normal pasta but that may give you an alternative.0 -
is it gluten or wheat you're intolerant to? I am wheat intolerant and have found that a small portion of Tesco whole foods spelt pasta every now and then keeps my insides happy without making me too sick.0

Thanks for this. I am wheat intolerant and wasn't too sure if it contained wheat or not.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

gluten intolerant....I can't eat anything containing gluten as I bloat and get severe stomach cramps and then diarrhoea...then i get bunged up cos of the diarrhoea.
Lillith, I've tried cutting as much as I can out, I have the GF alternatives (pasta, bread, sausages) and keep the rest of what I eat plain and simple, I have soya spread and drink goat's milk, and have jelly and only eat foods that are completely gluten free. I do think it's more of an adjustment for myself (and I don't help by eating chocolate....soon to be stoping that too) and my tummy to get it better again.
I've looked at the psyllium husk, and I'll be buying it, as it looks to be what I need, and probably the colon cleanse stuff too, just ot get it going and keep me going....
My usual diet is organic cornflakes (no barley gluten) salad with either egg or meat (checked to be gluten free) and some form of cooked meat with either potato, pasta or rice and plenty of vegetables or beans. I'm also a VERY picky eater, so won't eat lentils and the like, as I don't like them/not tried them as I'm also on a tight budget, but I will give it a shot.** Total debt: £6950.82 ± May NSDs 1/10 **** Fat Bum Shrinking: -7/56lbs **

I do it all because I'm scared.

Cut out the salad as it's mainly water and contains very, very little roughage at all. Replace it with vegetables like green leafy veg, broccoli and carrots0

Apples....sounds mad but if you eat and apple for breakfast first thing before anything else you will absorb all of the fibre and also a new reaserch carried out said they wake you up better than caffine! Works for me
Also I try and have one handful of nuts a day
p.p.s there are many varieties of gluten free bread that you can get so you don't have to cut everything out! Gluten and dairy free diet is more common than you probably think, have you asked your GP for a dietician referal?0 -

You can buy milk free chocolate. I think Sainsburys do it. http://www.sainsburys.co.uk/groceries/index.jsp?bmUID=1269201758987
