From another view with buggies on buses.
When they don't put the buggies down and have baby on lap.. i can't get on the bus in my wheelchair to the designated wheelchair area because the buggy brigade are camped out there.
I could not agree more with you, I'm not a wheelchair user and i have seen people who need the wheelchair zone, who are unable to actually get to it without some rude teenage mother who has to grudging fold her pram up!
To be fair, the odd buggy does not bother me, but when you get a group of mothers all trying to get on the same bus, taking up so much room and then having a go at the bus driver when one of their 'mates' cannot fit on the bus!

From the other point of veiw - im sick of people who walk into my sons pram - you can move out of the way easier than I can. Or watch me struggle to open a door while pushing a pram then just barge past while moaning. Or shops that have aisles so small its a complete and utter hassle trying to get round them. Then there are those people who park in parent and child spaces.
In relation to buggies on buses - everyones going on about how we should use public transport, does this exclude people with young children? Should they be made walk for miles as its an inconvenience for them to take up space (which they have paid for) on a bus or train?
I must remember not to have anymore children as buggies seem to upset many, many people!0 -

People don't have a problem if totally unrelated/unknown to each other people are on transport with buggies the issue arises when you have mothers (well it's normally mothers) trying to all get on the same bus without some of them folding their buggy up.
I also hate the mothers who walk 3 abreast on the pavements and paths with their buggies blocking the way for everyone else. I know they can't move out of the way easily so why do it?
Other people without buggies can get out of the way quickly but those with buggies can't. It's not always possible to cross the road, walk in the road or use another path especially when you are coming in the opposite direction.
School children are frequently told on school outings not to block the road for other people but groups of mothers with buggies think they are exempt from being polite to everyone else.
And this comes from someone who is happy to help those with buggies go up and down the stairs of her local train station.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

1. Someone gets on a bus with a double buggy and has young twins. How are they meant to try and juggle 2 babies and try to put down the pram if they are by themselves? I'd quite happily fold down my pram to get on a bus but its exceptionally hard when you have a wriggler for a baby and he's too young to stand up. No one thinks to offer to help in these cases which is probably why people moan.
2. Buggies taking up the pavement? The same could be said for the elderly who seem to gather outside Scotmid on pension day. No space to move yet im expected to put my pram onto a busy main road to get by? Erm no, rude or not I will say excuse me once, they don't move (and have blatantly heard me) I just keep going. No ones asking people to change direction, just to use a little common sense, maybe slow down and allow the pram past.
3. Any school children that are on outings in our area walk buddied up and do take up the full pavement.
Theres two sides to every argument (as proved on many of these threads) I was probably the same moaning about buggies before I had a baby. Now I can see why they are seen as rude - people seem to think they can walk through you!
And don't get me started on those people who push you out the way to get through automatic doors or use the lift when they are perfectly capable of pushing a door and using the stairs!0 -
I find older people as well are rude, I'm on crutches, lost count the number of times I've been pushed past, doors slammed in my face, not thanked when I've kept a door open or held the lift, or stopped to let them come past.
I'm not young I'm nearly 40.
I use crutches too and have found the same thing happens to me I have been pushed so hard that I have fallen and I have difficulty getting up
But now I have a mobility scooter I feel safer - but believe it or not people
still push into me or try to push past
I am 51 now and have been on crutches from the age of 41Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Why is it people cant walk in a single file these, when walking towards other people, they dont need to hold hands 24/7 unless of course they are joined at the hip0

How did people survive before buses had low floors and buggy spaces? My mum used to have balancing me, shopping, paying the driver and folding up the buggy down to a fine artSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
