Jo - have you really got one of those mini hand held jobbies, I have been scouring the net in between dribbling!
Good job toots has gone as she would tell you what a jobbie is in Scotland0 -
Hello and good night everyone. Been helping my brother fill a job application in and updating his CV. I have brain fog now and need my bed.
But just had to say....
Even - if you were Marks and Sparks or Next and a customer did what yours has done, you would just leave it and let them worry about it. If your customer is daft enough to just randomly send you money without checking first, they should be the ones staying up worrying about it. Go get a good night's sleep hon and I bet she'll have emailed you in the morning. Honestly - do these customers know who we are ???
And Munchki - wooohoooo!!! Well done, hope tomorrow goes well.
And on that note ...
zzzzzzzzzzzzz:jI shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.0 -
Eugh, still awake and working away, adding new stuff to the site. Got so much to add...
It needs finishing touches, though, and I haven't got the ability or movement to do it at the moment.
Did I mention that Mexican bought me and OH tickets to go see the Villa match tomorrow with him?
Very cute, but a lot of pressure to get better! At the moment I can't even wear my own clothes, I haven't got enough shoulder movement to put anything on, so I'm in OH's shirts...not sure it's suitable for going out...Signature down for maintenance :rotfl:0 -
Mabel, you are fab, the stress is obviously productive lol! Think burlesque market would be a great one to go for, could you offer personalised merkins? As burlesque performers tend to have a theme e.g. sailor, can't actually think of any more but if you really went for it could possible get Bizarre magazine interested in using them for a photoshoot, doing an article on personalised wedding merkins - victorian themed ones to go with the victorian jewellery, steampunk, ones with tattoo type designs in crystals or beads, ones with skulls, stars, maybe matching pasties; could personalise them to match an existing tattoo or compliment it, or to match a hair colour...sorry if this is all too complicated, it's just ideas on a theme really. I know the latex/leatherwear industry charge high prices for personalised or one-off items...this is also running away from the wedding theme isn't it!
Anyway here's my idea; it couldn't be done by anyone else (in the same way) as the group of people on here, so here's the thought I had yesterday;
Set up a website which is run for people who would like to earn a few extra quid but don't know where to start. Aim it at people like us - who don't realise that they too could go round their house selling stuff and then put the money aside for whatever project they have in mind. Charge a small fee for membership and make the thread primarily about well-run, easily accessed forums, with the assurance of help from experienced people (us) who are happy to find links, give advice, explain things three times as though to a small child if needed; aiming to help people with depression, health problems, or simply lack of confidence, who don't know where to start and might need to just have a natter about their problems; but offer them an opportunity to have a kick up the bum, or a questioning session, or some positive inspiration;
this then turned into me thinking about how we could ask Martin to promote it on TV as being something that developed from tips and tricks on his website;
then i started imagining the advert lol;
(E4 ad man's voice)
"Would YOU like to earn a few extra bob, but don't know where to start?
Would you like to gain confidence through running your own little business from home, while still enjoying time with the kids while they're young, or being able to continue your normal job?
Do you just need someone to explain things to you, and be there to help you out if you start to flap a bit?
Maybe you could call.....THE DRIBBLERS!" (play A-Team theme).
Obviously we couldn't be called the Dribblers (shame!) but there could be sections, and personalised help guaranteed, and we could pass people on to each other for specific needs. We have examples including myself of how it can be done, I wouldn't have the first clue how to do it but anyway I thought I'd put it up here and see what people thought
kids are shouting, have a good day xxI have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.0 -
Morning,
Paula, that is a fab idea! Wouldn't have the first clue as to how we would go about it though! Besides, the main+ thing that jumps out at me from your post is, how do you know about the latex market??
Seriously though, do you think it would be possible?
Also, have you noticed that we haven't had any new signups since the conversations have all been about merkins?
Right, have to get seriously motivated today, I am falling behind, I NEED to get a load of listings done today, perferably without DDs brand of help, sold a book yesterday and can't find it anywhere, have a feeling it was DD helping, but can't find where she put it and I was looking all day, tidying as I went, it has just disappeared!
Had a huge row with OH last night, so really not looking forward to him getting up, but hey. Supposed to be going to Worthing today to sort out a small claims hearing, but looked at the train times last night and it is a 5 hour trip each way, and he wants me to go with him and obviously that means kids come too, am I wrong when I said no?
Uh oh, there is movement upstairs, thats me off xturn £100 into £10000 in 2010 member #16 £567.68/£10,000 -I'm a wiggly worm, I'm a wiggly worm, how do you do, I love you, I'm wiggly worm!0 -
paula i had thought of something similar ,with links to all your guys stores and money from the clicky think covering cost of web host ect. as surely if we are all on one site selling then at least someone would get a sale .i did one of the advent calenders this year and it was set up as a village where instead of hitting just a link you clicked on the houses ,shops ,so you see smirkentree might work lolSo finally debt free and it feels amazing however continuing here to stay debt free.Next declutter house and body and finally swim under that waterfall x0

Morning all. Went to bed early as I was shattered with the weekend's happenings. DH's uncle died suddenly yesterday, so I'm hoping that's our 3 things well and truly out of the way this time.
Haven't done anything for the jewellery/altered site for yonks, and won't get a chance for a while as we are off on a cheapy bucket shop holiday next week.
Munchki, congrats on the job. My mum always said it was easier to get a job when you were in a job, so the next one should be easier to find. This one at least will take some of the pressure off you I hope.
Saucy, this can't go on. They must take you seriously and fast.
I was gonna add my 2p to someone else earlier, but I forget who, so I'll see if I can recap once I'm home from work.0 -

Ah, have checked back. It was about the demi johns. Our Wilkinson has glass demi johns at £4.99 and I've also got some plastic ones that were £1.99, so if you've been paying £20-30 you've been ripped off, hun! You can also use the 5 litre water bottles that Tesco have for about 79p and then buy the lid with hole for the ... um .... fermentation valve thingy (forget the name) separately from brewing supply people.0

***blushes*** I can't say anything that doesn't sound dirty... lol! I came here a fresh faced whippersnapper and have slowly morphed into a shoe fetishist merkin lover.:rotfl:
I think I am going to try the 99p stores over the weekend it is just one of those toys that I remember from being a kid and I want one bad!!!! But, if anyone can find me a mini piano like the one pictured let me know!
