name some programs
Heroes.
Best show on TV at the moment, and on the beeb.
As for "American Rubbish" on other channels, Flash-Forward is good, Sons of Anarchy is strangely addictive, NCIS and CSI are both good, Desperate Houeswives, etc etc etc.....in fact there's a lot great series around at the moment.
The West Wing was probably the best TV series of the last 30 years, Boston Legal was pretty damn good as well.
I've seen some great documentaries on BBC, their news coverage is pretty good, Top Gear is amazing, but their fictional/drama TV series are absolutely dire.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

The BBC needs to concentrate on specific programming and not trying to compete with the likes of Sky etc on paying crazy money to celebs, the likes of Jonathon Woss is/was never worth the money he was paid and at the end of the day the Corporation couldn't sustain this.In paying wages like this they had no option but to drum down the quality elsewhere.
I aggree but most of the quality programs made in this country are made by the BBC and I personal like to see a bit of homegrown programming over American imports0 -
What particular programs
True Blood and Hung are both HBO productions, and both good shows.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

I like some of them programs to and agree it would be harsh to call them rubbish but not many on Sky. Without Sky a lot would end up on free channels anyway but without the BBC we would lose a lot of good programs.0 -
TBH I now spend most of my TV time watching channels like Quest,Yesterday etc but even they seem to be plagued by repeats. As for BBC about all I watch is the occaisional docu,Antiques roadshow,Question time, paxman and Mastercrafts with Mony Don.Apart from that I don't bother too much.0
