My listing states 'Paypal only' and buyer now wanting to send a Postal Order

Hi,
Hope someone can help.
For various reasons I prefer to use only Paypal as payment (basically for the mainly small/cheap items I sell I cannot be doing with cheques, P. Orders etc).
I state on my listings Paypal only to make this clear, however someone has won something from me, and is now saying Paypal won't let them use visa and can they send a PO ? I don't want a PO for £4 and told them Paypal only ?
What are my next steps ? I would be happy to somehow terminate transaction and re-list but want to do it properly and amicably!
Thanks
ETA Have also seen that there has been Postal Order scams a few times and am wary!

You have every right to refuse to take any payment method not offered in your auctions. How about a compromise ? Sugegst to buyer that they make a bank transfer, that means you get the money cleared and they don't have to faff around with a PO.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I would rather not give out bank details tbh.You have every right to refuse to take any payment method not offered in your auctions. How about a compromise ? Sugegst to buyer that they make a bank transfer, that means you get the money cleared and they don't have to faff around with a PO.
I am confused as to why they cannot use their paypal ?
They won yesterday afternoon, and I sent invoice straight away. Got their PO message this am, to which I replied stating that Paypal was my only payment option, and tried to be nice about it!
I was thinking of waiting until end of Monday and if no response emailing to say I want to cancel transaction ?
Any thoughts people ?
Thanks soolin and anyone else who replies

PS Why oh why do people bid then ask to pay in another way ?
Had they asked before hand I would have said no, and they would not have bid!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

Why not? They have will no more information than is printed on a cheque. Bank transfer is perfect if the buyer will do it - no charges and it cannot be refunded against your will. The buyer takes the same risk as with a PO which is why most buyers prefer Paypal to get a bit of protection.OrkneyStar wrote: »I would rather not give out bank details tbh.0 -
Thanks for advice, I want my buyers to pay by PayPal though, that is why I specify that only! Why not? They have will no more information than is printed on a cheque. If they won't do PayPal what are the steps to cancelling (hopefully amicably) ?
Thanks

I wouldn't cancel this transaction via a mutual as a buyer who cannot read your auction terms is not likely to be able to complete a mutual. Personally I'd just go for a full NPB on day 4 if you are sure you don't want to compromise in any way. However, if buyer responds to your dispute then they can of course leave feedback.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I've had this happen to me (I used to state paypal only as didn't have a bank nearby to pay in cheques and postal orders), however if the postal order is uncrossed you can cash it at the post office when you post your items. So now I don't mind uncrossed postal orders.
However if it is crossed it means you can only pay it in at a bank (like a cheque). My daughters are my world0 -
I really don't want to accept anything other than Paypal- as already stated in my terms!
Thanks for the help folks.
Will see what happens with buyer and let everyone know!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

They wouldnt let me pay someone last night by Visa Debit from either my paypal or my Husbands, 2 different cards, they wouldnt let me pay by my Mums Visa Credit Card either through her paypal, they accepted Mastercard though. I wonder what it going on with that.
They may be genuine with not being able to pay with the visa, which isnt their fault, seems like a paypal problem.0 -
Oh yeah I appreciate not buyers fault necessarily, that is why I am prepared to give them some time before being hasty!VanillaDelia wrote: »They wouldnt let me pay someone last night by Visa Debit from either my paypal or my Husbands, 2 different cards, they wouldnt let me pay by my Mums Visa Credit Card either through her paypal, they accepted Mastercard though. Glad you finally got something that worked.
I never had any problems with Visa credit card and have used Mastercard too, although now Paypal has funds in from sales
