If you want to use push email you need the BB add on. If you're not going to be using push you don't...

Sorry if this has been answered, but I couldn't find an answer :(
I have a O2 contract with "BlackBerry Unlimited". Can anyone explain to me what exactly this includes?
When I read my contract, it says that internet data is charged at £3/MB, hinting that internet is NOT included in this "unlimited" bolt-on, and thus I'm confused as of what I can use the Blackberry for free!
Thanks for any information, I wasn't even able to find an answer on the O2 website! Makes me wonder if they don't keep their terminology muddy on purpose!

    That's the price if you don't have a bolt-on.

I do have the "Blackberry unlimited" bolt-on, as stated in my previous message.
Anyway, I called O2, and albeit the lady was not very knowledgeable (confirming my belief that all this BB stuff is not very clear not only to customer but also staff), she was eventually able to get some information from some O2 techies while I was on hold for a couple of minutes:
    * Email, messaging, internet and maps are all included, AS LONG AS YOU USE THE BB SERVICE.
    * If you are not connected to the BB service, and can use Internet, then you are using O2 and are charged £3/MB.
    * A way to tell is to go in Manage connections and check if the BB service is connected.
    * A better tip she got was that on the homepage, if the gprs icon is written in lower case, my data goes through O2, but if GPRS is written in capitals, then I am connected through BB (which is a really good tip to know).

So the catch is that your connection could drop from the BB service, the phone switches to O2, and you are unknowingly charged £3/hr. Thus you have to keep a close eye on the case of your GPRS icon on the homepage. I don't know if the switch could happen in the middle of a session, but I assume it can, and thus you have to be extra careful. she also said that being on O2 would render my internet slower, so that could be an indicator.

Hence another question (that she wasn't able to answer, albeit I don't hold a grudge on the lady because she was otherwise very helpful, and my question probably depends on the phone): how can I set my phone to connect ONLY to the BB service, and not switch to O2 if the phone cannot connect to the BB service?

Also, I already switched off roaming, does that help? Or should I leave it on as I could get BB abroad, and still use it as part of my contract?

Our TWO questions... Amongst our questions... are such elements as... I'll come in again ;)

i believe you will pay data charges if you use it abroad regardless of the blackberry service

I have found your message useful as I have wondered why I get lower case gprs at times. It seems I may have unexpected charges coming.

Some websites don't allow you to go through the Blackberry servers, I had a Youtube app that wanted me to connect to WAP, this is when you get charged. The Blackberry only uses a small amount of data though compared to a normal phone so if it does switch to it shouldn't be much. I think mine came to 9p

Looking at the O2 website it said that WAP is free when a Blackberry tariff is taken
