IKEA - discounts on signs not given at till

If your shopping at Ikea at the moment and pick up something advertised as special as you wonder through, make a clear note of it and what special price should be (use their pencil and paper provided), and double check whether you get charged the special price at checkout.

Got caught out last night by not doing this, had picked up a couple of extra items because there were promoted as at reduced price where they were on display in store, but as had quite a few items overall wasn't checking things at the till. Got home and checked receipt to find that was charged normal price on the items that I'd only taken as were displayed as special. It was only a couple of extra pounds that cost me in this case (and maybe could claim back except for hassle of going back to store), but is more the principle of it.

Just a heads up to others.

Another reason to check your receipt before you leave , then it would be fixed there and then. Nobodys perfect!

Is it not because you need an Ikea family card to get the discount ?

Alot of the time you have to check all the names carefully because they're similar/ the same as ones that aren't on offer.

You also need to check the signage for the colour and/or size.

Alot of these queries we get at the checkouts are down to this reason. The product may be on offer in a particular colour but not in others.

As with any shop though mistakes happen and if you query it with us then and we have gotten it wrong we will honour the price!

Also, as mentioned above if the item has an "FA" next to it on the receipt then it is on offer with IKEA family and you need an IKEA family card to get it at that price.

    Cheers

Don't get me started on IKEA! They have lots of lovely things in their catalogue, and their online stock checkers say they're in stock but I've had many wasted journeys when I get there to find they haven't got what I'm after!

I haven't had any pricing problems but they many stock availability problems I've had mean I wouldn't be surprised if their prices were wrong.

I find it easier to give them a call before I leave and double check that the items are in stock ;)

The thing is though - I DID! Apparently a pallet of 175 50 x 70cm picture frames can go missing, as can 6 ft shelving, rugs, christmas stock....

As you can't actually call the local store I now get customer services to call the store and ask them to do an 'actual stock check' (i.e. go and look at the items on the shop floor to see if they are there) but even that isn't foolproof

Oh but you can call the local store!

The customer services numbers are for each store, all are different.
I've never had a problem, but I can see where things can go tits up :D

Have you tried calling the numbers? They go through to the central call centre.

There's an automated answer 'Welcome to Ikea X' and then options. You're put through to the call centre after this.

    Maybe I've just been unlucky
