Natwest Student Insurance

Hi I'm off to uni in September and am looking at various ways of insuring the stuff i'm going to be taking with me. Apart from the usual essentials (clothes etc) I am going to be taking a fairly expensive laptop down with me (worth around £1900), and as i've had to work to save the money up for this obviously i dont want to risk losing everything if it gets pinched!
I recently opened a student account with natwest, and this seems to be the only bank that offers "student insurance", for around £209 (including extras i chose) i get:
In addition i added mobile phone cover (upto £200) at £42.50, and Laptop or handheld computer cover (upto £2000) at £46.
Insuring the laptop alone with a provider looked to be going to cost me around £200 notes on its own, so i wondered if this looked like a reasonable deal.
P.s - Going to be staying around central London, so prices are bound to be a little more expesnive i guess

First of all check your parent's contents policy. Some cover dependant's possessions whilst away at Uni.
Then check with Endsleigh, which is widely regarded as the specialist insurer for students :-

...... but I doubt you'll do much better than the quote you have, if I've read it correctly and the £209 includes the £88.50 for laptop / mobile??
But you might like to look at the relativity of the value of your mobile to the £42.50? That's a hell of a cost when you can buy a PAYG for less than the annual premium? For that sort of ratio (5 : 1) I would personally forget the insurance and just use it in safe places. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
I insured 2 daughters stuff whilst away at Uni . Did it through the Coventry Building Society and their quote was the cheapest I found, included far more than most others I looked at and ALSO included for each daughter's possessions away from home. if your parents policy cant help how about looking at the Cov in your own right? Enjoy.:T0
