Not so much of a rant, just a grumpy old man having a moan 
More and more, I'm seeing the use of the word "mom" in messages.
I know that it's possible some of the members are American but it sems that most are not.
When did this word start creeping in to (the real) English language and what's wrong with mum or mam?

I think people in the midlands always use "mom" like how those up north seem to call trousers "pants".0
