Anyone got a metal shed?

Thinking of getting one for a number of reasons:
- no painting
- cant set on fire
- think they will be more secure
It doesnt come with a base - what did you use?
How long do they take to set up?
Any problems with them?

My BiL had one, i think they made a simple base with flags. Despite the fact it took hours to put it together, it was a simpler enough job and he was pleased, saying he would always get one again.
I'd like to get chickens at some time and i'd thought at less than £100 the small shed would make a good coup which could easily be kept clean.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Thanks for that. Well ive read the set up time on the one i want (its only 6x4) is 4-6 hours?!
I just dont understand why it says so long (thats what is worrying me!!!!). I presumed there would be 5/ large piece that would just screw together in some way?0 -
I think if you look each side is made up of sections about 2' wide, and each section is joined to the next by say 8 small nuts and bolts. So the time is spent joining these sections together before you start to do the job. Easier enough to do just that it takes a while.
But as you say in the future you'll save a lot of time in painting.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Metal sheds do have some maintenance advantages but keep in mind they suffer hugely with condensation problems and are more difficult to hang things from the walls than a wooden shed.
If that doesnt matter to you then its worth getting. Personally after owning both, i would only ever buy wood again in the future.0 -
They get very hot in direct sunshine.0

i like metal sheds, though to be honest, we only have a wood shed
they suffer really bad from condensation
ref the hanging things on the walls, its easy to over come, just "gripfill " or "no-nails" some 2 X 1 batten on the wall0 -
Thanks all.
Id not even thought about the condensation. It will be in the shade which will limit how hot it gets but might decide to give it a miss. Hmmmmmm not so sure now. My main reason for thinking was i can get it delivered at home and take it by car (as its smaller) down to my allotment.
I dont know how to get a wooden one down to the lottie as i doubt they would deliver to there etc0 -

ref the condensation, just fit a few air vents which would create a air flow and really help with it
just search on ebay for circular-soffit-vents, about 5 quid for 10
fit them before you put the shed together and it will be easy to do
DO NOT FORGET to paint the edge of the metal you cut out, it will stop rush
if the metal shed ticks you box's, then get it and fit a few air vents, job done0 -
I have one, be warned they are bl**dy heavy when they arrive packed in the box,, it took my strapping son and I both to lift itWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray0

You can get mold in them if not ventilated enough due to condensation
I much rather have wooden any day pay extra and get a decent one it should last years if looked after0
