I did get turned down for a current account with Halifax last year. I've always been good at paying back my loans and credit cards and my mortgage (which was and still is with Halifax) yet after doing a credit check, I wasn't allowed a current account with them, which I found bizarre!
DEBT FREE for the first time in 10 years and with savings!

Halifax can be very funny. I havent been refused credit but it does impact on me getting credit. We even had somebody round looking for him 2 weeks ago. My DD answered the door and said that nobody of that name lived here. OK it could have been somebody who knew him but given the amount of letters I get chasing him for money I dont think so. Unfortunately I was in the shower and when I went out into the street I couldnt see the person but still makes me wonder why it is still happening 5 years on. Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0

Hey, I'm just quoting it like the credit reference dudes tell it...
Have you
- got copies of your credit reports
- asked for financial dissasociation from CCJS as they are not yours
This should remove them from your file.

Sounds like a fun day out
Is the CCJ also registered against your name? Have you checked your credit record?.0 -
I was replying to Dan when he asked for proof !
I have seen my credit report and everything is up to date or satisfied.

I don't think you have to necessarily worry that he's still using your address. Debts are sold to debt recovery companies who can turn up years later looking for money. I recently had Wescot on my case about a debt that someone had run up in my name 8 years earlier, and which I had never heard anything about during those 8 years. I soon got rid of them though

no the CCJ is not against my name it is under the name of the person that used to rent my house before I bought it and my credit report is fine. All I am saying is that in my experience I have had problems obtaining credit because there is a CCJ against my address - I havent been refused but I do get checked into more. Even if the law states that it goes by name - in practice they check your address. Official DFW Nerd Club Member #37 Debt free Feb 07 :cool:0 -

And the mobile phone company told you that it was because of a CCJ at your address but not in your name?.0 -

How? Against their own records, or with Experian etc? I don't think Experian would let them do that as they'd be in breach of the data protection act..0
