how long do you have to be on jsa to get one of these fabulous informative meetings?

i had one after 3 months and i believe that is what the rules say. however judging from this forum people are getting them at any stage in the first 6 months.

ty for replies, but could someone explain how long i would lose benefit for if i dont attend in the end please.. is it 1week onlyor could it be more?

They will probably sanction for a week and rebook it for you as you missed it.

Unfortunately you can't be permanently sacked from JSA, just have your claim terminated if you fail to contact within 5 working days.

Just back from mine - it's actually not that bad - only lasted 20minutes (while we were all waiting though, we agreed not to ask any questions, so we'd get out sooner) lol

To be honest. the advisers seemed in a rush to get away as well :)

Do you realise how insulting your attitude is to those of us who pay thousands of pounds in tax every month to provide you with that free money which pops effortlessly into your bank every month?

I'm sorry but this is simply disgusting - you're being offered an opportunity to further your search for work - take it.

I wish people like you would disappear off these forum boards. They aren't for those with a nose pointing towards the sky.

Whilst the morals behind the OP could be questioned, at the end of the day all they want is some advice as to the sanctions if they don't attend. It is your life, if you decide you'd rather lose 1/2 weeks whatever JSA by not attending that's the individuals choice.

Interestingly, I wish those who are simply out to bleed dry the hard working, tax paying members of society by working the system.... and those who support them would vanish from this forum.

They are fine. They take no time at all and just go through all the options for looking for work and root out anyone who doesn't have basic computer skills so they can train them.

Go to it. It will take half an hour and be over. You may even walk out the door with a couple of extra resources to use for your job hunting. If you don't want to go to this you aren't going to like the sign on appointments or the stage 2 Back to work interview where (I have been told - mines next week) that I need to "prove" I am applying for jobs.

for reference i had mine about 4 weeks in to my claim.

lets get realistic here. how is missing an appointment going to bleed the taxpayer dry. it'd save them money if the person loses a couple of weeks money. secondly if these back to work sessions didnt exist it would save the taxpayer money. the sessions dont actually do anyone any good.

Mine was 6 weeks into my claim and was told would be 1 week JSA unpaid if didn't go - this 1st group meeting is not rearranged if you do not go. On mine only learnt one useful thing which was free training courses available for first aid, health and safety etc. specific to where I live (Cardiff).

Second review is arranged for approx 13 weeks into claim and is rearranged if you miss. Unfortunately I have to go to mine next week or lose that weeks JSA despite starting my new job in week 14!
