As you are issed with a jobseeker direction to attend you will be required to put down the reasons you didn't go they will be sent to a decision maker, if you are found to not have good cause for failing to attend you will loose 1 weeks money.
I know - I am not the one asking the question!Gone ... or have I?0 -
OP just go to the session and come home once done, you get jsa so a session is one of the requirements of applying for jsa0

Hi ive just claimed jsa approx 6 weeks ago and have already  got a 1 hr long (at the weekend) back to work group session and wondering what will happen if i dont attend.
has anyone missed one of theses for no reason???
thankyou
this sounds like the thing i did. all that happened for me was we got lectured about jobsearch. it lasted about 45 minutes for us. its a waste of time to everyone except the totally clueless. just put up with it, its no big deal. however i wouldnt be happy about having to do it on a weekend.0 -

No reason to worry, i've just had one of these.
we were told it would last an hour as well. there were about 20 of us in a room at the jobcentre, where we were talked at for about 45mins, handed a job pack, offered leaflets, asked if we had any questions. (nobody did, we all wanted to go).
didn't learn anything, if fact when they phone me for a survey again I will tell them it was a waste of 45mins of my life.
this is pretty much how it was for me.0 -

Also don't be suprised if they talk alot about a local provider who can help with CV's job searches etc, in my view all those providers want is for you to register with them so they can obtain funds from the government and whilst on their register again the Job Centre can meet targets.
Call me cynical
i think it is like the majority of what governments come up with(new deal for example). it is to keep the middle class voters happy. the government can say look we are helping the unemployed, look we are tough on the unemployed etc. they then guarantee themselves a few more votes.0 -

Or they might just want you to get a job?

Trust me if you had been to one you would not say that! I attended this and it lasted 30mins not a hour and was basically "try harder", also alot of the info they gave me was wrong when i went to the job centre 4 days after.
But OP do go its more hassle not to trust me0 -
You're on job seekers, but you don't want to do anything to seek a job.
Wow... No wonder employers hire immigrants.0 -
