Hypno, well done on the 9.

Just wondered with the exercise it might be worth seeing how many cms or inches you lose, sometimes turning the fat into muscle doesn't show so much in lbs but in inches. So it might help motivate the exercise more if you have a means of monitoring other than just the weight.

But of course, the truth is that muscle weighs more, and so rather than be disappointed that I did not lose more weight, I have to convince myself that I am getting leaner and fitter now, rather than lighter!
Ermmmmm... weighs is weight is weight (well on earth anyway! :p)... 1lb of fat = 1lb of muscle = 1lb of lead = 1lb of feathers! It is the volume they take up that is different! 1lb of muscle takes up far less volume then one of fat which is why measuring yourself can be a good idea when your dieting - the scales may not move (or only slowly) but you may still be loosing inches as the fat disappears and your muscles become more toned.

Sorry... the geeky scientist in me had to correct this! :o :rotfl:

I wanted to weigh myself this morning but it looks like I've killed my scales (10 days after spending ~£8 on silly sized batteries). Can anyone recommend a good set of scales for little money?

That is a good idea - will hunt for a tape measure this evening, although my jeans are a pretty good measuring tool on their own!!

Emotional eating is my big problem too, and I wish I had the answers - the only thing I am learning is that I have to let the crappy days happen, then draw a line underneath and get tracking again within a couple of days. If I don't track, I go waaaaay off course. I am learning to allow myself a couple of days of pigging out, then back to the tracker where the feeling of gaining control kicks back in and that, in turn, helps with the emotional eating, if that makes sense!

So, I just crept in under the 10st today and got to 9st 13.5 lbs :j:j:j which is what I was aiming for. Now I need to stay there, so will be trying to lose a little more to give me that cushion, before I start the maintenance programme.

Yes thanks Hypno that makes sense. We all need to be a little kinder to ourselves.

Well done on the weight loss. What an inspiration you are! :T:T

Congratulations Hypno on reaching the 9st mark :j:j:j:j:j in the time it has taken you to lose 28lbs i lost 4 kgs (to get down to my ideal goal), took my eye off the boil and put 3kgs back on. I am thinking that my ideal is not my body's ideal as it takes too much to stay there.... so i may have to revise.
28lbs is a HUGE acheivement, be very proud of yourself...;)

Picked up loads of overtime with the Eclipse premier tonight - woo hoo - need to start getting that horrible mortgage figure down.

Yes, well, I think you'll earn every last penny of it... saw the first film and really wasn't impressed. But hey, horses for courses... :D

And my heartiest congratulations to Hypno on the sub 10 stone marker and the daily exercise commitment!
